Inspired by the spirit of late 20th-century punk and rock, their music is a mix of high-energy grit and melody as well as storytelling lyrics that reflect a defiance of modern life, while observing both its flaws and its fleeting moments of beauty. The Wests Awake

The West’s Awake is a one day festival being held in the iconic Bread and Roses venue in Clapham. This festival aims to celebrate and platform Irish Artists in London. London has always been an electrifying hub for Irish artists. Musicians, Artists and Actors alike have long come to this city to advance their careers and establish themselves as experts in their craft. The West’s Awake looks to play its part in this tale and provide a space for artists doing just that.

The West’s Awake takes its inspiration from Galway hurler Joe McDonagh’s memorable rendition of the song on the steps of the Hogan stand. Galway won the All-Ireland Hurling title in 1980 after a 57 year drought having not won the title since 1923. After Joe Connolly made his rousing acceptance speech, one Galway substitute, Joe McDonagh, found his way to the microphone and sang out the end of the 50+ year drought, announcing Galway’s rise from slumber and launching Galway into an era of sporting success. Irish Artists have by no means been in slumber over the past years, on the contrary we are in a new age of Gaelic revolution. Our festival's goal is to capture that feeling for everyone who attends. This is a space celebrating upcoming Irish Artists, feel the energy they produce, feel the buzz.

The West’s Awake

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1xD1UwhKqg

Run of the day:

Our one day festival will open its doors at 1pm with some welcoming music and drinks.

This is the entrance time for all those with Tier 1 tickets

From 2 pm, attendees will be guided upstairs to the Bread and Roses theatre for a fantastic one woman production led by Emma Greaney.

Accessible for Tier 1 ticket holders

Ferb & The Scarsdale. Fats
Jun

Ferb & The Scarsdale. Fats

ferb are a 4-piece of young up-and-comers, hailing from the depths of South London who have been making waves thanks to their electrifying live shows. Whilst initially showcasing a familiar yet raw and refreshing brand of post-punk inspired by the early-mid 2000’s revival scene, they’re already showing sonic growth into a much bigger sound. Their emotive and passionate songwriting is highlighted in the new tracks they’ve been debuting live, inspired by all sides of 90’s alt-rock and its modern day counterparts.Based in South London, Scarsdale Fats’ music blends ‘70s psychedelia, ‘90s grunge, and modern alternative instrumentation. With driving drums and haunting lead guitar, they create a sonic foundation that supports lyrics exploring themes of transience and mortality. Their songs transition from electrifying, high-energy riffs to eastern inspired guitar solos, and into heartfelt rhythmic ballads, each evoking a spectrum of reflective, melancholic emotions. ‎
